Roofing....is da bomb
So I was roofing one day and it was fun.
I got to play with the nail gun,
I met an amazing guy named ray
and he had a whole lot to say
His wife Rose was such a sweetheart
and on the roof we got a great start
we laid on shingle by shingle
and when we took a break we go to mingle
they shared about God
the devistation was far and broad
when we got done the gave us a hug
and in my heart their was a great tug
I began to cry
as we said good-bye
but i knew we would meet again
i just wouldn't know when

Greetings from Socket Woman
Today 3 of us learned from "Jack of all Trades" how to wire a house that had old worn out/washed out sockets. We had a great time! I always wanted a new challenge and to stretch myself and today was the beginning. It was definitely a new experience.
But the best part of all was meeting the people. They are so appreciative of our help. Many of them just wanted to talk to us as we worked. Many of them feel so blessed that we are willing to give of our time to assist them.
There is still so much destruction here. But with God's help the community is slowly getting back up on its feet.

Amazing Stories
God has given us many opportunities today to see him at work today as our groups were sent out into the community here in D'Iberville. The group today did roofing, electrical, drywall, debris cleanup, and office work here at the camp. The groups are really making a difference in the lives of people and families that are still trying to get back into their homes after 10 months from when Hurricane Katrina hit here.
Every person that we come in contact with has a story. A story how their life has changed and how God is revealing Himself through this tragedy. I have heard so many times in the last two days how much they appreciate people coming to help them rebuild.
I was able to pray with a man today that is displaced from his home and in the middle of this chaos he found out that he might have cancer. Talk about your world being rocked again! After listening to his story, I felt compelled to pray for him. I prayed that the Lord would again prove Himself Faithful and would give him peace as he goes through another storm in his life.
With every story here.....there are thousands more. We are here for a week, but I know that God has us here "For such a time as this".
Blessings and keep praying for us!

lGreetings from the gulf!
My team and I spent the first day hauling debris for a lady named Mary. She lost everything in the storm. I am amazed at at her resiliency and reslove as a person. Despite losing everything she had a positive attitude and was quite friendly. Mary was veery appreciative of all the work we did for her. The weather this morning was cooler than normal which allowed us to get alot of work done for her. The accomodations are functional and I'm sharing a tent with 7 other males. I've survived the last two days so the rest of the week should be breeze! See you soon!

In the Shower
My first day at work! Today I had Camp Work. After cleaning up breakfast (mopping, washing, scrubbing, etc.), my group and I did some office work. We printed, stamped, and addressed 124 letters along with cataloging the times in and out, and files of the work to be done in the community. After that, me, Kelsey, and Brook, along with Jeff, our group organizer, proceded to mix up 6 batches of this liquid fiberglass, and spent a good 3 hours in the unairconitioned, humid, woman's shower room "spackling" the floors of the stalls and inhaling the wonderful toxic fumes! After which we were covered in toxic goo, and given special permission to take hostage the men's showers, and cleanse ourselves of radioactive muck. The rest of the day was pretty much uneventfull consisting of a long nap, supper duty, beating Pastor Bryan at wiffle ball, and a tasteful run to Whattaburger!
The End!

Day 1

We went to church at the First Baptist Church at Buloxi, Mississippi. The service was a good one, and we learned about being on mission with God. First Baptist Church of buloxi has been a HUGE blessing on the commuity that was SO devestated after the hurricanes.
After lunch we toured the area and was just in awe at the devestation. When we were touring, we stopped at one particular homeowner who was in the process of rebuilding their house for the THIRD time. When we approached them and started asking them some questions about the hurricane, we were amazed at their generosity. They were SO appreciative of us being here, they offered us drinks and countless times thanked us for coming to help them out. It has really opened my eyes the the term "SELF-LESS" generosity.
The next couple of days will be interesting to see how the kids respond to the work. The will of GOD is evident here. In our session last evening, a lady by the name of Irene told her story of how the hurricane impacted the lives of her and her husband who is permantanly disabled. After hearing their story it really put in perspective the things that we take for granted. Our God is a good God and supplies ALL our needs.
The above picture just reminds me of how good our God is and how he will continue to supply the needs of the people of Buloxi.

We've arrived
After a long drive Friday and Saturday we arrived in D'Iberville around 5:00pm. Took a quick tour around the camp, unloaded the cars and trailer into our tents then sat down for a hamburger and hot dog supper.
After dinner we got a short introduction to the do's and dont's and learned about the devastation that took place when the hurricane came ashore.
Tomorrow we will get up for breakfast at 8:30 and then church at 11. We will then spend the afternoon touring the city to see first hand what the hurricane did.
More tomorrow.

It's Here!!

Hey South Leawood!
It's Here! You are probably packing your suitcases and getting ready to load the vans to leave for the Gulf Coast! I am really looking forward to spending the week with you guys and getting to know you.
Please be praying about the relationships that you are going to be building this week with people that need encouragement and hope! Allow God to reveal Himself to you this week as you pour yourself out for His Glory!
Please tell family and friends about this link so that they can see photos and read testimonies about how God is moving during your life and the group.
Blessings,
Jeff Hart
